When you blow dry your hair, try to follow these steps;
  • Wash your hair and use a conditioner to give softness to your hair. If you have dry hair, conditioned in the shower. But if you have fine hair, conditioned only the ends.
  • Towel dry hair and squeeze out the excess water. Don't rub the towel too fast or hard and if you feel pain or hair breaking, then use your common sense and stop.
  • Now apply a styling product. A good styling product is a key to the perfect blowout. It adds shine to the fine and limp hair. Mousse or hair gel can be added to the wet hair before blow drying to get the desired look.
  • If your hair is still pretty wet, use a dryer to remove excess moisture before you start the blow dry.
  • Now separate the hair into different sections according to the length of your hair. If you have straight hair, use a blow dryer with wide toothed comb. If you have thick or longer hair, try to use clips to help.
  • Pull your fingers through your hair starting at roots. Pull hair out a few inches and hold it while you use the dryer to shoot hair at the crown on down.
  • Blow dry your hair by using a round brush on the bottom of the hair and pull the brush through your hair, pointing the nozzle downward onto the hair.
  • Now pull the hair taut in each section with the brush and blast it with the cool air from your dryer.
  • Finish the blow drying with a shine serum or balm. But skip this step, if you have limp, oily hair.

Tips for Blow Drying Hair

  • Get a blow dryer with several heat settings. If you are just drying your hair, use the lowest setting. For styling, use the hottest setting.
  • Always try and use the dryer downward because using it upwards can cause frizzy hair.
  • Dry your hair in the following order: back, sides, crown and then front.
  • Dampen dry ends with a plant spray before styling to avoid heat damage.
  • You can use a hair mousse before using a blow dryer, which will make your hair look straight.
  • Do not use an appliance over 1200 watts and work with a diffuser attatchment to spread the heat. Always keep the dryer moving, at a distance of about 6 inches from your hair.
  • While using blow dryer, dry the roots first.
  • Allow your hair to dry naturally as often as possible, using your hands to create shape and lift the roots.
  • Use hot air and cold air simultaneously because hot air gives the hair curl and cold air make your hair stay for little longer time.
  • Wait until your hair is at least half dry before you attempt to style it.
